Andromeda Turre
Sunday May 31 • Pier Stage @ 3:30 pm
Andromeda Turre is a vocalist, composer, and sound artist exploring the relationship between music, presence, and human connection. Raised in a family of jazz innovators, she grew up in an environment where listening was treated as both craft and responsibility.
Her upbringing also included early exposure to practices centered on breath, awareness, and the body’s relationship to sound. As a result, Turre’s work moves between worlds, where musical discipline meets lived experience.
Over the past two decades, she has built an international career creating projects that blend jazz, storytelling and immersive sound. Her compositions for voice, crystal singing bowls, and ensemble are archived at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, reflecting her role in the emerging field of contemplative and experiential sound practice.
Her work has received support from organizations including the Mellon Foundation and the Doris Duke Foundation, and she is the recipient of multiple international music awards recognizing her contributions to contemporary jazz and interdisciplinary performance.
Turre is the creator of LISTEN, an immersive live music experience that invites audiences into a shared space of presence, reflection and joy. Through voice, vibration, and improvisation, LISTEN transforms music into both art and atmosphere.
I’m looking forward to bringing crystal bowls and a moment of connection and joy to the Jersey City Jazz Festival!
