NJCU Jazz Combo
Saturday May 30 • Pier Stage @ 12pm
Chartered in 1927, New Jersey City University has been a state institution of New Jersey for nearly 100 years. NJCU’s Jazz Department has been part of the Jersey City community for the past 50 years and continues to invest in the students of Hudson County, the state of New Jersey, and motivated up-and-coming musicians from all over the world. NJCU offers specialized curriculum to prepare musicians for a career as both jazz performers and educators. Students can study with world-renowned jazz artists from the NYC area as they hone their skills and prepare for their professional world. Studies focus on learning and reinforcing foundational jazz skills, while developing the artistry needed to thrive in today’s creative music world. As of July 1, 2026, a merger will change the name of our program to Kean Jersey City. But the Jazz Department will forge forward, offering the same opportunities for our up-and-coming musicians of the future! This year’s ensemble features current students alongside a featured NJCU faculty guest.
The NJCU Jazz combo is thrilled to be part of this year’s Jersey City Jazz Festival! It is always a privilege to share the stage with great artists and this year’s festival will be another opportunity for our students.
