UCMP Latin Jazz Ensemble

Sunday May 31 • Pier Stage @ 12 pm

UCMP's Latin Jazz Ensemble brings together talented young musicians from across Hudson County to explore the rich traditions of Afro-Caribbean and Latin jazz through performance, rhythm, and improvisation. Directed by Enildo Rasua, the ensemble blends deep cultural heritage with contemporary jazz influences, creating a dynamic and inspiring musical experience for both students and audiences.

Through this vibrant platform, students develop advanced musicianship, confidence, and collaborative skills while immersing themselves in the rhythmic language and expressive spirit of Latin jazz. The ensemble regularly performs at music festivals and community events throughout the New Jersey and New York metropolitan area, sharing the energy and joy of Latin sounds with diverse audiences and representing the artistic excellence of the United Children’s Music Project.

“Having UCMP’s Latin Jazz Ensemble participate in the Jersey City Jazz Festival in May 2026 is more than a performance opportunity. It’s a celebration of our young musicians’ discipline, cultural pride, and artistic excellence, while showing our community that the sounds of Afro-Caribbean and Latin jazz are alive in the hands of the next generation.” — Melina Garcia
